It’s been awhile since I posted a workwear Wednesday outfit, so when I saw that this peplum top went on sale for 50% off, I figured it was a good time to share something new! Sometimes I get so bored wearing the same sweaters and button-downs to work, so I love how fun and versatile this structured top is for the office. Read below about taking something trendy, like this top and bright necklace, and making it work in an office setting.
When I go shopping for clothes that will work at the office, I gravitate toward pieces that meet a few criteria. First, I look for items that will work paired with both a pencil skirt and black slacks. I tend to wear the same things over and over to the office, so having that flexibility is important. Second, I look for things that are comfortable. There’s nothing more miserable that spending 9+ hours in a day regretting your too-tight or too-short clothing choices. And third, I look for items that are flattering. Again, there’s nothing more miserable than thinking about being uncomfortable in something unflattering when you should be working.
This peplum top meets all three criteria! I’ve paired the top with a pair of black pants above, but it would also be darling with a pencil skirt. When I ordered the top online, I purchased two sizes to make sure what I was getting would be comfortable all day. I ended up going up a size since I’m sitting down with my arms bent most of the day, so you might want to think about doing the same (or at least order two sizes to ensure you get the right one). And finally, the way the hemline flows away from the body is SUPER slimming—and who doesn’t love that?
A quick note on these shoes: These are my go-to work pumps. They’re $30 on Amazon and I wear them at least three times a week. I’m also wearing them in this and this post if you want to see more photos/styling options. I like them because I can wear them ALL DAY LONG comfortably. The heel is nice and thick, and the ankle strap keeps them in place.
